Lora's Nourishing Produce has two options for receiving fresh produce. Check them out and see which one fits your needs!
CSA Member: CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It is a growing movement of health conscious consumers who purchase a share of produce that is grown by local farmers. The share is purchased in the spring so that the farmers have the cash they need to grow the produce. As produce comes into season, CSA members receive a share of what is grown. It is distributed at a centrally located pick-up point for convenience and also to reduce the carbon foot print.
Custom Produce Member: It is similar to a CSA in that you get your produce straight from harvest to your table but it is different in that you pick exactly what you want harvested for you and it is delivered to the drop off location. You create your own personal order each week to fit your needs throughout the summer!
How is Lora's Nourishing Produce grown?
Our mission is to produce nutrient-dense, health-building produce, thus the name: Lora's Nourishing Produce. I am excited to have Marla Epps working with me in researching growing methods that maximize producing healthful food. Marla has a Master's degree in horticulture from CSU. Her special focus is on all the factors that affect the soil in which the plants are grown. The goal is to provide a healthy environment for the soil-based organisms that convert the elements in the soil into forms that can be absorbed and utilized by the roots to grow vitamin-, mineral-, enzyme-, nutrient-rich produce. To accomplish this, we will include the use of certified organic compost, OMRI approved soil enhancements, and filtering irrigation water to support the good microbes in the soil, as a few of our methods. This means we will not be using the typical petroleum-based, commercial N-P-K fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides or anything else that would disturb the natural balance of how food is supposed to be grown. To provide the depth of produce variety we want our members to experience, we will still be supporting a few Colorado Organic Farmers
